The Research Enterprise Department (RED) plays a pivotal role in facilitating research collaborations with Higher Educational Institution (HEI) to support MCMC’s interest, and its mandate to improve the Communications and Multimedia (C&M) industry in Malaysia. RED manages MCMC’s research grant, namely, the Digital Society Research Grant (DSRG). From pre-award to post-award, the department oversees the entire process of DSRG to ensure successful implementation of research projects. The department is also responsible in disseminating research findings via MCMC Research Symposium, Communicate@MCMC and Media Matters.​ In 2023, RED has also re-started HEI Educational Visit, a programme visit by academic institutions to MCMC with customised agenda and content. Additionally, RED also supports other ad hoc research-related works that may not be directly related to DSRG research works such as RED's involvement as secretariat in the Disrupting Harm Collaborative Research Initiative and Survey on PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia Package.
